          In the region around Naples, where the soil has an abundance of volcanic material from nearby mount Vesuvius, is a small town called Avellino.  It is here that Fiano was saved from the brink of extinction.  Ciro Picariello Fiano is lively and savory with notes of white peaches and a hint of apple, layered with a crisp balanced almsot smokey minerality from the volcanic soil.

          Mixed results
